“The Voice” April 2020

“The Voice” April 2020

From Our Pastor.....

Dear ones,

I pray that you are well, that you stay well, and that you know that we love you. I also hope that you’re staying at home, except for essentials, and staying sane.

I don’t need to tell you that things are different and uncertain right now. This also applies to our monthly newsletter. We’re putting this one out with what we know at this time.

In the meantime, we ask that you have patience as we plan on a day-by-day basis. Our staff is going above and beyond in reaching out to all of you, and rest assured that we’re here to help in whatever way we can.

In an effort to keep us “together,” we’re sending you Daily Devotionals via email a well as posting them to the website. If you find these helpful, please “like” them on Facebook and “share” them on any and all platforms you have available. We want to reach as many people as we can.

Trying to keep us thankful and focused on the positive, we invite you to post what you’re thankful for on the Gratitude Journal on our website. Please post as often as you want for we’re blessed every day and “share” the Journal as well.

Stay tuned to your email and our website, and finally, remember that this is a temporary crisis and our God is eternal! God will prevail, and he loves us!

In Christ’s love,

Pastor Sheree

Pursuing Holiness by Philip Nation

Members of the adult Sunday school classes are participating in an online Bible study called Pursuing Holiness. Each Sunday a new audio lesson is posted under the St. Paul’s Blog (the same blog used for the Daily Devotionals and Gratitude Journal). The lessons are available throughout the week. Members are sent a guide by email to use as they follow along and take notes while listening to the audio file.

Anyone can access these audio lessons, and you can contact Sue at programdirector@spumctx.org
if you would like a guide sent to you by email.

Christ Crew Youth meets for fellowship
on Sundays 6-8 pm

Greetings to Our SPUMC Family,

The Christ Crew is hoping you all are staying well. The youth are staying in contact with each other and are staying safe and well. All of the Christ Crew has started their virtual schooling, the learning curve has been steep for all people involved (students, teachers, and PARENTS). We are all settling into our new routine that seems to be lasting longer than any of us expected.

Please follow Christ Crew on social media as we will be posting pictures of the youth surviving social distancing and self-quarantine.

Many Blessings,

Kelley Schneider, Youth Director

Technology Corner…..

Hi Everyone!

I know we are all facing challenges with our new “temporary normal”. I wanted to let everyone know that I am aware of some issues accessing different areas (Livestream, Blogs, Videos, etc) and I want to reassure you that I am working on fixes as I learn about the issues. It is my plan to send out an email to address some of those issues.

With that being said, I also want to remind everyone that computers, laptops, tablets/iPads and cell phones are all as unique as you are. What may work for one, may not work for another. This is due to the type of device you have, various settings you may have on your device and if you have the most recent updates. Sometimes it is just a quirk for the device and there is no rhyme or reason to it!

Please be patient with me as I work to address any concerns, but also please be sure to let me know your concerns as I cannot fix it if I don’t know what is going on.

One final note on this last part – I may not be able to immediately address your concerns if I am working in the A/V booth. Sometimes it is just me back there. I do see the texts messages, comments and emails, but most likely I already know the issue is happening and working on a fix for it. If I don’t acknowledge you right away, please understand that I am busy. Thank you for your understanding.

Be Blessed,

Judy L. Phillips
Technology Coordinator

APRIL ALTAR RAIL MISSION EMPHASIS

Our mission emphasis for April is Mission Border Hope. MBH has been giving aid to low income families along the border in and around Eagle Pass and Maverick county for many years and has also provided disaster relief for those affected by tornadoes and flooding in the border area. You may remember several mission trips made by St. Paul's youth and adults in years past to help rebuild homes, provide bible school activities, build bunk beds and many other forms of assistance.

Last year, in the face of the arrival of overwhelming numbers of refugees at our border, Mission Border Hope became one of the primary care givers in the area. After those individuals who were granted entry to the U.S. had been processed through Immigration they were left on their own to make their way to other parts of the country where family members waited to take them in. Mission Border Hope worked to get these folks to the local bus station and to provide food and clothing for what was often a very long trip. Please join me in continuing to support this very important and vital ministry of our United Methodist Church.

Blessings,

Dave Rush

To the Kerrville Methodist Church Family -
We are so very thankful for the beautiful quilt. Bryce has used it often. It is absolutely beautiful. We are grateful for the prayers and support.

With so much love!
Bryce and Stephanie Stewart

(Bryce is the pastor of the College Street Church of Christ, Junction, TX and the father of 5 school age children.
He is battling stage 4 cancer. One of our quilters made him a lap quilt.)

Dear St. Paul’s,

I want to “thank you” so much for the flowers, prayers, calls and visits since my fall and     recovery. It means so much to have a great church family with so much support. I greatly    appreciate all that you have done for me. I am most anxious to return for all the activities—however, I know it will take some time.

Love,
Norma Richardson
