From Our Pastor.....

The Bible assures us that where one or two are gathered, God is there also.  Well, we were more than that on the last two Sundays!  Forty-eight of us gathered in the sanctuary to worship two weeks ago.  We all wore masks and tried to stay a minimum of six feet apart.  We received consecrated pre-packaged holy communion, and we did a good amount of smiling and waving!  Others joined us via LiveStream, and of course, God was there!

It was good, and it was different.  If we've learned anything in the last six months, it's that there are a variety of ways to worship "together".  This Sunday, October 4th, we'll worship together with Christians all around the world.  It's World Communion Sunday, the Sunday designated by most Christian churches worldwide to celebrate holy communion , as a symbol of our common faith.  Perhaps now, more than ever, we need to celebrate Christ's love for all people and what we share in common.  No doubt, what comes before and after the Lord's Supper during the worship service will vary from culture to culture and from denomination to denomination, but what's most important will be the same, and for at least a day, we can focus on our unity.  My prayer is that, one way or the other, in person or virtually, you'll join us.

In Christ's love,

Pastor Sheree

Outreach Project at the Doyle Community Center

The playground equipment at the Doyle Community Center

is in need of a new coat of paint and we want to put together a
WORK TEAM to help paint the equipment with work days to be scheduled in October.

Many youth and adults at St. Paul’s UMC have been instrumental in
helping with projects at the Doyle Center over the years,
and a St. Paul’s team actually painted the playground equipment
a few years ago.

So, let’s do it again St. Paul’s!
Just let Sue know if you would like to be a part of this
Work Team and a part of making a difference in our community!

God is doing some amazing things in and through the Doyle Center
and we want to join him in His work!

       Christian Education News!

Some changes in teachers will take place as we re-open for Sunday school. Jack Vestuto, Dave Rush, Susan Breda, and Gerry Reinhardt have decided not to return to teaching. Each of these individuals have given of their time, talent, and energy to prepare and present lessons to the children and adults in their classes each Sunday and some for as many as 20+ years.

Please join me in thanking them for their dedicated service over the years!

We also want to celebrate the blessing of the new and substitute teachers who will be leading the Sunday school classes. Some are only substituting until we can find permanent teachers and others have agreed to teach full-time. Please be in prayer for each of these teachers as they lead their students
into a deeper understanding of God’s Word.

(Butterflies) class — Susen Cusenbary (full-time teacher) (assistant helpers needed)
Youth Class — Lois Lister & Sandy Wilbourn (co-teachers)
Youth assistants — Darleen Allan & Dwayne Brown
Quester’s Adult class — Lois Shaw (full-time teacher)

Technology Corner…..

Online Giving is now LIVE!

This is a fast, easy and secure way to make contributions to the church for tithes, offering, missions and other programs through out the year.

The links to the Giving Online form is found on the Home page of our website. The website is partnered with PayPal to provide a secure checkout process and protect your information. The process is simple and I have created a tutorial so you can see how it works.

We are charged a small processing fee which you have the option to help us cover with your contribution. This is completely optional, however, please be aware if you choose not to help cover the processing fee, the amount that the church receives your contribution less the amount of the processing fees.

Example: a $20 contribution has a $0.91 processing fee. If you choose not to cover this, then what the church will recieve is $19.09.

Below is the link to the Tutorial for the Giving Online form:

                Halloween Happenings!

Due to COVID 19, we will not be able to host a Trunk or Treat event this Halloween. However, we are joining with Barnett Chapel and Mount Olive Baptist to provide Halloween goodie bags to the children in the neighborhood surrounding the Doyle Community Center. We will be assembling 100 bags.

The goodie bags will be distributed via a drive-thru at the Doyle Center on Friday, October 30th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

St. Paul’s will donate the goodie bags and prizes we had leftover last year. We will also provide religious coloring sheets, colors, and the Pumpkin Gospel poem.

The mission emphasis for the month of October is the UM Army, more formally known as United Methodist Action Reach-out Mission by Youth. This organization provides an opportunity for youth and their adult leaders to experience Christian growth through service to others. Participants combine their strengths and resources to meet home repair and maintenance needs for low income, elderly and disabled homeowners who are physically or financially unable to make needed repairs themselves.

In most areas, local churches host these mission programs and the youth and adult teams that come to do the work. In recent years, UM Army has formed partnerships with United Methodist camp and retreat centers and does some of the upkeep for these very important facilities.

UM Army is also our final 5 Star qualifying mission project for this year.

Thank you for your continued generosity.
